The Journey Continues!

The Mama Temple Mobile Art Gallery!

The Mama Temple mobile gallery version made its debut on Mothers Day 2023 in San Luis Obispo California. The public was welcomed into the mobile art gallery, to tour the artwork and stories sent in by local and national artists.

Viewers had a remarkable experience stepping into the The Mama Temple. We parked by a small public park, put out welcoming signs, and encouraged people to go inside. Those that did were moved and excited about the project. The subject of Motherhood was on many minds that day and The Mama Temple provided a place to share the feelings and experiences people may have about mothers and motherhood.

Beginning The Temple, Portland

In my Portland Studio beginning the curtains to The Mama Temple

Physical creativity has begun!

The first exhibit of The Mama Temple is slated for July 30th here in Portland Oregon. The artist compound where I have my studio is having an Open Studios event and I thought this was perfect timing to transform this beautiful art project idea into a reality.

I am currently painting the curtains that will be your entrance to The Mama Temple during her time exhibiting in Portland Oregon. The Curtains are ten feet tall and will span a fifteen foot opening to enter the temple. I wanted to create a separate space that felt sacred, safe and housed in a way that was thoughtfully curated.

I have begun to paint the walls in the temple as well, with colors that are dramatic and will compliment and enhance the artwork.

Painting this big is hard work. It is physically exhausting. I’m almost through the hard part. I know how close I am to completion and am pretty excited about it.

More to follow!

Conception Ideas

It all begins with an idea.

It all starts with an idea. An idea I usually think is the best idea in the history of all my ideas. It’s brilliant! Simple! Easy Peasy! Everyone will understand this amazing idea!

Ideas that form into actual projects are another thing. They are time consuming, grow painfully, stretch all my edges, test my patience, my focus, my will to keep creating. (Only Temporary!)

The Mama Temple is that such project.

The beginnings. 1. I have a StepVan that I have been eager to convert into a creative space. 2. I am a Mother and an Artist who enjoys collaborating.

The simplicity in those facts gave way to brainstorming The Mama Temple into being.

I know this project is bigger than just me and is beginning to be a grand collaboration project with artists, healers and the feminine experience. Artwork is coming in as well as stories of birth and motherhood. Watch us grow and develop into a deep meaningful exhibit that will bring awareness to and heal us all, through the stories and images of Motherhood.

A Mobile Interactive Art Exhibit.
